UPDATE 1/14/2023

We continue to work diligently with our app development team to squash the final bugs in version 5 of StormWatch+ for iOS.  While only a couple of issues remain, they are very important and we cannot go live with the app until they are resolved. We know this delay has resulted in a lengthier outage of radar and other weather mapping layers on the legacy app than was intended. We're focused and intent on delivering an update that will fix that issue and lay the groundwork for the future as quickly as possible, but cannot sacrifice other important features in the name of restoring a free feature of the app (though we do realize it is also important). We're crossing our fingers on a breakthrough any day! In the meantime, the legacy iOS app continues to deliver exceptional alerting capabilities. Stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter feeds for the latest updates.

For you Android users, Version 5.0 was released to you on 12/9 & is in the Play Store.  Check out this support article, as well as our Facebook and Twitter feeds, for additional information on version 5.

UPDATE 1/1/2023

We are still working every day on stubborn bugs in the iOS version of StormWatch+ 5.0 app.  The free radar portion of the app will be fixed in the updated version, which could be any day now.  The SW+ Alerts are unaffected, and you will continue to get your alerts.  Thank you for your patience and know that we are beyond ready to get this to you but want everything to work.  Stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter feeds for the latest updates.

For you Android users, Version 5.0 was released to you on 12/9 & is in the Play Store.  Check out this support article, as well as our Facebook and Twitter feeds, for additional information on version 5.

UPDATE 12/9/2022

We are excited to announce that the Android version of StormWatch+ 5.0 is now available for download in the Play Store! It can simply be updated over your existing app, so there is no need to delete and re-install. We are diligently working through the final bugs in the iOS version and are expecting to have it available to our iPhone and iPad users within a matter of days!  Check out this support article, as well as our Facebook and Twitter feeds, for additional information on version 5!

UPDATE 12/6/2022

We are completing the final touches on the refreshed StormWatch+ app and are expecting to have it on your devices soon!  You will notice in the app that the weather layers on the main map (radar, satellite, etc.) are no longer available as of December 2, as we transition to a new vendor for this data that will be used in the refreshed app. The updated map layers will work once again in the update.  Your SW+ Alerts subscription will not be affected. Check our Facebook and Twitter feeds for more information.

UPDATE 11/10/2022

Good news everyone! We are in the final stages of small bug fixes on the redeveloped StormWatch+ app and expect it to be released soon in the Apple App Store & Google Play Store.

As outlined below, the app is basically rebuilt from scratch with new map data (radar, satellite, etc.) as well as support for more frequent updates and additions. The SW+ Alerts subscription will of course still be available for all your weather alerting needs, and we will be returning the annual subscription in a near-future update. One other change will be the temporary removal of radar animation that we will also re-introduce in a future update once that is working flawlessly.

We appreciate your patience and will let you know once the updated app is released.  Follow us on Facebook and Twitter if you'd like.  Thanks for being a part of StormWatch+!

UPDATE 11/1/2022

We're getting closer! The StormWatch+ app is making its way through the final stages of the re-development cycle and will soon be available in the App Store and Play Store. This updated version of the app will include new mapping data (radar, satellite, etc.), but also continue to offer best-in-class severe weather alerting via SW+ Alerts. In addition to the currently-offered monthly subscription for SW+ Alerts, we will be restoring the popular annual subscription option as well. And of course, the app has been, and will continue to be, ad-free and we commit to never selling or releasing your personal data, for profit or otherwise!

Check back often for the latest updates here, and on the Facebook and Twitter feeds for StormWatch+. Thanks for your patience as we complete the final stages of this major project!

UPDATE 9/20/2022

Work continues on our "significant update" to the StormWatch+ app. For more background on this work, please see below for the original announcement of this update. As of today, our new app developer has nearly completed 5 of the 6 phases of the project.

PLEASE NOTE: a possible loss of mapping data in the interim would not affect your ability to receive severe weather alerts from the app. It only affects the ability to see radar, clouds, etc. on the main map, which is something we provide for free (you do not have to have a subscription to SW+ Alerts to view that data).

Once the update is out that rebuilds most of the StormWatch+ app as described below, we will proceed to complete the project with some new capabilities later in the fall! It is also likely that we will have additional information at that time on the SW+ Alerts subscriptions, including the restoral of annual subscriptions. As soon as we know more, we will update you here, and on the Facebook and Twitter feeds for StormWatch+.  So, stay tuned, and we apologize for this current uncertainty! You can always reach us via social media or by opening a ticket from the main menu within the app itself!

ORIGINALLY POSTED 7/23/2022

We are currently in the process of a significant update to the StormWatch+ app.  This update will restore the yearly subscription option, fix several known bugs, bring in new features, and most importantly, lay the groundwork for exciting future updates that we'll reveal in due time.

As a little background, the app is currently written that utilizes separate coding languages for Android & iOS, which meant that our app developer had to do twice the work to make changes to both the Android and iOS apps.  Recently, we hired a new app developer, who is also a long-time SW+ Alerts subscriber. His company is re-writing the entire app in a single coding language, so any changes or updates to the app will be much easier to manage and deploy. That is the reason we call this a "significant update."

We are continually committed to bringing you precise and lightning-fast weather alerts.  The app has been, and will continue to be, ad-free and we commit to never selling or releasing your personal data, for profit or otherwise.  The base StormWatch+ app will continue to remain free and provides valuable information to help you plan your day, harnessing the power of over 2,000 National Weather Service meteorologists, forecasting for your local area.  Regarding alerting, our server space and app development expenses are not cheap. We believe strongly that, for the price, SW+ Alerts is an essential, life-saving product and provides as many, if not more, custom features than any other weather alert app on the market.  Therefore, SW+ Alerts will remain a subscription service with both annual and monthly renewal options.

The weather mapping data that has been displayed in the app is changing also, as our vendor will be discontinuing the current dataset and switching to a new one.  So we are pushing to get the updated app out before this data is discontinued.  We have cleared 1 milestone in our 6-phase project, and are planning for the updated app to be released early fall.

We sincerely thank you for your continued support of StormWatch+ and SW+ Alerts and look forward to continuing to serve you!  We will keep you updated as we move through the process.
